Computational Spatial Genomics Lab

The Computational Spatial Genomics Lab, directed by Dr. Jianrong Wang, focuses on developing cutting-edge computational, statistical, and machine learning approaches to understand the 3D organization of the genome and its functional consequences. Our research integrates bioinformatics, multi-omics data analysis, and computational modeling to reconstruct high-resolution 3D genome structures, infer gene regulatory networks, and decode the genetic mechanisms underlying human diseases. We collaborate closely with experts across mathematics, statistics, computer science, and biomedical sciences to ensure that our computational predictions are both innovative and experimentally testable.

Join Our Lab

Multiple fully funded Ph.D. positions are available for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027. We are looking for highly motivated students with strong backgrounds in computer science, statistics, mathematics, or related quantitative fields. Solid programming skills (Python or R) are expected; prior experience in computational biology is beneficial but not required.

If you are interested in joining our interdisciplinary and fast-growing research group, please contact Dr. Wang (wangj164@msu.edu) with your CV, transcript.
