Xinrui Yu

Xinrui Yu is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Computational Mathematics, Science & Engineering (CMSE) at Michigan State University, beginning in 2023. She is co-advised by Prof. Jianliang Qian and Prof. Jianrong Wang. Before joining MSU, Xinrui received her B.S. in Information and Computing Science from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). Her doctoral research focuses on developing computational and mathematical methods in understanding 3D genome architecture, single-cell multi-omics, and large-scale biological data integration. She is particularly interested in machine learning, optimization and algorithm design of context-specific spatial organizations of genome. Outside of research, Xinrui loves dogs.

Haoyi Lyu

Haoyi Lyu is a PhD student in Computational Mathematics, Science and Engineering. He received his B.S. in Artificial Intelligence in 2024 at University of Science and Technology of China. He is now working on his PhD focusing on reconstrcting single cell 3D genome structures. In his free time, he plays badminton and read detective novels.

Hongru Zhao

Hongru Zhao is a PhD student in Computational Mathematics, Science and Engineering. He received his B.S. in Applied Mathematics from Shandong University in 2021 and his M.S. in Data Analytics and Statistics from Washington University in St. Louis in 2023. Before joining the lab, he worked as a research assistant at the University of Florida. His current research focuses on deep learning applications for enhancers. Outside of research, he enjoys playing soccer, playing poker, cooking and traveling.

David Chau

David Chau is a Ph.D. student in CMSE. He received his B.S. in Mathematics in 2023 and his M.Phil. in Mathematics in 2025 from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He is co-advised by Professor Jianliang Qian in the Department of Mathematics. His research focuses on computational methods for optimization, inverse problems, and differential equations on manifolds, with applications to scientific problems.

Xinrui Zhong is a Ph.D. student in CMSE. He received his B.S. in Data Science in 2024 from Wuhan University and his M.S. in Statistics in 2025 from University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research focuses on machine learning applications in 3D genome.
